The first verse of “Lord of Heaven” is about how our greatest joy is found in Him as we behold who He is, as we delight in the sight of His glory that our eyes are able to see, as our lives are filled with endless awe as a result of such a sight. And this goes into a Psalm 63 type of response - there is none like Him, no one comparable in beauty, no one more precious to us. He is worthy to be praised. Then the third verse talks about how, flowing out of that beholding, we have a hope that is SO different, a hope that roots us, a hope that is a firm foundation because it is founded on His finished work. He is worthy of all glory, not us! He is the foundation of our hope and, thankfully, not us small humans!
Song Lyrics
I look to You with adoration
My greatest joy is You alone
Beholding You, Your truth, Your glory
Fills my life with endless awe.
Compared to Your exquisite beauty
All worldly things grow very dim
More precious than all gold and silver
My soul is satisfied in You
CHORUS:
You are worthy, Lord of Heaven
You are worthy, Lamb of God
Precious Saviour, crowned with glory
You are worthy to be praised
My heart, it overflows in wonder
My Fortress strong, my gracious Hope
Your saving work my firm foundation
I exalt Your Name alone
BRIDGE:
All glorious, most powerful
Above all else, You are
So beautiful, my heart's delight
Above all else, You are
